1. My students claim they registered their iClicker; but I don't see it. Remind students that registration is done on your Blackboard course site - not the iClicker site. You can create a button on your course menu to make it easier or they can click on "Tools" => "Register your iClicker" to complete registration. They can view this demonstration if needed. It can take a few minutes for clicker registration to go thru. They will see a registration date when successful. Make sure you "sync" periodically.

2. Do students have to re-register their clicker for every course, every semester? No, once registered, the clicker will work in every course in which they are enrolled. However, due to the large number of iClickers registered to multiple students and vice versa, we will be wiping out registrations once a year before the Fall semester. Students will need to register their handheld devices every Fall.

3. Why aren't all of my students associated with a clicker? It's a good idea to periodically "sync" your roster. Unregistered students and iClickers appear in red in your iClicker roster. If the problem continues, they may not have registered properly or students may have purchased a new iClicker remote.

4. Why aren't grades sync'ing to Blackboard? That could depend on several things. Please contact ITS Faculty Support and describe the error message. The most common error is faculty use software that has not been distributed by ITS Faculty Support and, therefore, doesn't contain the Blackboard integration software.

5. I got a frequency conflict message. How do I change my frequency? If you get a message indicating a conflict with another base, you should change your base receiver frequency. Failure to change frequencies when there is a conflict may result in student answers appearing in the wrong course. Using the iClicker Settings General tab, you can change your base receiver frequency. You must then change your handheld remote frequency and have all students change their handhelds too. See iClicker Course Settings. Click on image to enlarge view.

6. Can students change their vote during a polling session? Yes, while polling is open, students can continue to change their votes. The remote will display a checkmark when each answer has been successfully received. Once question polling is closed, students can no longer change or submit a response.

7. How do I designate the correct answer for discussion and scoring? You can designate the correct answer in class by using the E button on your remote. Cycle thru the answers leaving the correct one green. You can also use the session polling toolbar (the timer) by clicking the menu on the right. After class, you can go to the Gradebook, View a sesson, and make changes there. Follow these instructions from iClicker.

8.What are the different scoring options? Scoring is a personal option. Participation points are awarded in a lump sum based on criteria you choose. Many faculty are now giving points for responding and additional points for correct answers. A good description can be found in the User Guide included with your software in the section titled, "Set the participation and performance point settings."

9. What is the difference between iClicker1 and iClicker2. The iClicker1 remote can only handle multiple choice questions. In addition, iClicker1 doesn't have a screen to display and acknowledge changes. It does work though with iClicker2 polling.

10. What if I conducted a polling session while in the wrong iClicker class? The steps for fixing this are a bit involved. Please contact us or iClicker support for help. You can also access support phone numbers and a trouble ticket.

11. What do I do when a student uses multiple remotes? You can use the iClicker Gradebook to add or remove remotes. Click on the student name to open the editing window and assign a new remote or sync with an existing unregistered remote. See the iClicker Instructor support page on this for more help.
